#15600 closed defect (invalid)

pkg-config installed by binary installer

Reported by: hramrach@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: base Version: 1.6.0

Description

I installed MacPorts using the binary installer image.

The installation contains pkg-config which is not part of any package.

This may conflict with other pkg-config installation, should not be needed by the ports core, prevents successful installation of the pkgconfig port, and cannot be cleanly uninstalled/removed.

I cannot confirm the issue. I tried the 1.6.0 disk image for Leopard, it does not install pkg-config.

I am using 10.4, not sure what kind of cat is that.

I examined my system more closely, and I found I have a pkg-config reciept that installs the pkg-config also in /opt/local.

Not really a MacPorts bug.

Sorry about the noise.
