Workaround, after running port install py-game once, execute as root:

cd /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_python_py-game/work/pygame-1.8.0release/LOCALBASE=/opt/local/ /opt/local/bin/python2.4 config.py
cd -

then execute port install py-game again

Oops, a newline was lost there. Workaround commands:

cd /opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_python_py-game/work/pygame-1.8.0release/
LOCALBASE=/opt/local/ /opt/local/bin/python2.4 config.py
cd -

Milestone: Port Bugs

Works here without doing anything manually. Could you try installing again after cleaning py-game? I'm thinking it might be the Leopard environment variable bug.

If it doesn't work, please attach the full output of sudo port -d install py-game.

I already tried cleaning, but that didn't help.

My workaround builds the missing Setup file separately.

The workaround above also works for me. Note that the workaround did not work if I used sudo. Reading more carefully, the instructions do indeed say "run as root". So a heads-up for anyone else who uses the workaround...

py-game is at 1.9.1 now, is this still an issue?

Replying to toby@…:

py-game is at 1.9.1 now, is this still an issue?

I ran a successful 'port upgrade py-game' so this does not appear to be an issue still.
