taglib 1.5 universal variant build error — at Version 1

Attempting to install taglib using the universal variant (sudo port install taglib +universal) results in the following build error:
/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_ports_audio_taglib/work/taglib-1.5/taglib/mpeg/id3v2/./frames/.libs/libframes.a is a fat file (use libtool(1) or lipo(1) and ar(1) on it)
