Description

I have just installed MacPorts on Mac OS 10.5.5 using the .dmg.

It tells me the installation was successful but no port commands work in the terminal.

If I type

man port

I get the response:

No manual entry for port

I have read through the whole of #13742 and cannot see anything that resolves the issue I am having. I acknowledge completely this may be due to my own lack of understanding. I do use the terminal a lot but there is a lot I don't know. I have not dealt with profile files before and would not have known they existed.

Regardless, I have checked and the installation created both a .profile file in my home directory and a profile at /etc/profile. They both look correct to me - at least they make sense. I have attached both files.

However still no man entry for port.

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

#13742 was the original ticket for the issue, but to fix your issue here and now, see the hotlist entry for this issue; that should help get things working for you.
