Gramps 3.0.4 Request for Native Mac OS X Variant

Reported by: ctempleton3@… Owned by: rjt-gramps@…
Priority: Low Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 1.7.0
Keywords: Cc:
Port: gramps

Description

Can you please consider making a Native Mac OS X variant of the gramps installation if possible. X11 is great for me but I see my wife having some problems. Apparently it has been done before see http://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php?title=Native_Mac_OS_X for the patch that has to be applied for it to work. Thanks,

-Charles III

That option shows up in the gramps wiki section on gramps 2.2. Is it still possible on 3.x? If not this will likely never happen. This question really should be asked on a gramps list directly.

If there's an option (like a configure switch) to do this, we can easily add it to the port, but we shouldn't really be in the business of applying large patches to projects within MacPorts. If the gramps software doesn't currently offer a built-in way to build a native Mac OS X app, then the developers of gramps are whom you should contact to discuss this. Once they've done so and released a version of gramps including this capability, we can revisit this request.
