Per ticket #25320, I'm about to submit fixed to bring qt4-mac up to 4.6.3 and qt4-mac-devel to 4.7.0b1; those updates are relatively simple, and in the process I've also created a 'qt4_select' so that all qt4-* ports behave nicely together.
Moving from the current version of qt4-x11 (4.4.3_5) even just to 4.5 requires significant changes in the Portfile; ditto for 4.6. I quickly ran into issues getting 4.6.3 up using just X11.
So the first step in updating qt4-x11 is I'm moving it to use 'qt4_select' so that it plays nicely with the other qt4-mac-* ports. Once that move is finished, I'll resume my efforts to get qt 4.6 running on x11.
I'll post back here once qt4-x11 work with qt4_select.

As of r69277, qt4-x11 uses 'select'. Next, working towards updating to 4.6.3 and 4.7.0b1, and including both debug and release versions.

As of r72571, qt4-mac has a stub variant for +x11. I'll be filling in the details shortly. Question to everyone on this ticket: Are there ports that you know that are qt4-x11 specific, in such a way that qt4-mac and qt4-x11 should remain separate? What I'd like to do (and, am doing right now since I haven't heard better otherwise) is to incorporate +x11 into qt4-mac and then allow the user to switch back and forth between them. Most user need just qt4-mac, but I also don't want to estrange those who need both qt4-mac and qt4-x11. So, I'm listening ...

I need qt4-x11, in order to build the meego touch libraries x11 is required.

Sorry I should clarify I don't need both qt4-mac I just need qt4-x11. This may not be the proper ticket but the +x11 variant doesn't appear to be supported right now and the qt4-x11 doesn't build because it's incompatible with OS X 10.6

port livecheck qt4-x11 fails with:
Error: cannot check if qt4-x11 was updated (The requested URL returned error: 504)
Although shouldn't qt4-x11's version generally be kept synced with qt4-mac's? qt4-mac is currently at version 4.8.4 btw.

Presumably should be updated to 4.6.0 now.
