#21314 closed defect (fixed)

sudo locks up Terminal.app until reboot

Reported by: macports@… Owned by: youvegotmoxie@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.0.1
Keywords: Cc: nonstop.server@…, cooljeanius (Eric Gallager)
Port: sudo

Description

I've just done an upgrade to Snow Leopard, and completely reinstalled my ports (using manual method from Migration).

It fails for me still. I'm using sudoers from /etc/sudoers, and /var/run/sudo is there, so that is not the problem either.

(I've tried reopening #20907 but I'm not allowed to)

I can't figure out why the 1.7 branch has this hang issue.

When compiled as warned, it still hangs.

Epoch++ and revert to the newest of the 1.6 branch.

This bug also occurs using snow leopard 10.6 and 2.0.1

did a clean install of macports and ports using 2.0.1

I have to reboot to access terminal (or kill sudo in temrinal i guess, now that i know whats causing it)

thanks

Looks like it was updated to the 1.7 branch by a new maintainer.

It looks like the race condition matches the described behavior, though I've not seen it happen personally. I'll bump the port version to the newest 1.7.x release in a minute and test it out.

I'm hesitant to bump it to the 1.8.x series without much more testing than I can afford right now.

I don't have any Snow Leopard boxes anymore, but 1.7.7 works for me on Lion. I'll check my changes in, but please do try the new version and let me know if it works or not for you.

This port is no longer maintained. Is this still an issue?

Is this still an issue for anyone?

No, this was fixed already a long time ago.
