zabbix 1.8 is available and the port should probably be updated.

I updated to 1.6.8 after seeing that 1.8 building failed and seeing user reports it is still buggy. I thought it better to wait until a future 1.8 revision to update the port.

To clarify, the problem I experience is described in this forum post which was filed as ZBX-1231 which was marked as a duplicate of ZBX-479 whose symptoms are quite different and described in this forum post and which you already fixed in r41886. The patch in upstream r8851 (svn di -c 8851 svn://svn.zabbix.com) doesn't seem to fix either problem for me but maybe I'm doing something wrong.
An update to 1.8 would be good as soon as it is possible for PHP 5.3 compatibility. 1.6.8 shows a bunch of errors with PHP 5.3.

Zabbix version 1.8.2 has been released. This release has a lot of new features and bug fixes and might be the right one to upgrade to. Please see the release notes and documentation for more information.

This was done in r71305.
Just updating the version and checksums is insufficient due to an upstream bug. They've fixed it, though, and provide the revision number, which could be turned into a patch.
