This looks very similar to ticket:21434.
The error message is quite the same:
configure: error: Cross-build requires two compilers. Use --with-build-cc to specify the native compiler.
So hopefully the solution will apply as well… Occured on a G4, 10.4.11

The modified portfile worked for me (G4, 10.4.11) - may some other people give it a try?
