valgrind-devel crashes cleanup for migration from Leopard to Snow Leopard

Description

On 10.6.x with MacPorts 1.8.2, while doing a migration from 10.5.x to 10.6.x 

$ sudo port clean --work --archive all
.
.
.
Error: Unable to open port: invalid command name "configure.ld_archflags"
Before reporting a bug, first run the command again with the -d flag to get complete output.
$
$ port info valgrind-devel
Error: Unable to open port: invalid command name "configure.ld_archflags"
