Are you certain you're using MacPorts 1.9.0? The bug that prevented websvn 2.3.1 from fetching was supposed to have been fixed in MacPorts 1.9.0; see #24584.

MacPorts 1.9.1 was released today. Please "sudo port selfupdate" to get it and try websvn again.

Today I tried the proposal which is described under #24584 after upgrading MacPorts to v.1.9.1: still no success.

It works for me so I'm not sure what's different on your system. Are you able to fetch the file manually by visiting WebSVN's web page in a browser? If so, you can put the file in /opt/local/var/macports/distfiles/websvn and MacPorts will use it.

Resolution: worksforme
Status: newclosed

Michael indicated via email that he was able to manually fetch the distfile and then install the port.

I still can't explain why MacPorts was unable to fetch the file itself since it works fine for me.
