#31140 closed defect (worksforme)

gdb 7.3 segfaults when trying to load symbols

Reported by: jwatt@… Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.0.2
Keywords: Cc: alexeiz@…, neil_mayhew@…, mkae (Marko Käning), cooljeanius (Eric Gallager)
Port: gdb

Description (last modified by mf2k (Frank Schima))

When I try to load symbols I get a segfault:

 $ ggdb --quiet

 (gdb) file /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox

 Reading symbols from /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox...Segmentation fault

 $

If I use the version of gdb that comes with Xcode then I don't have this problem.

Any progress on this ticket? GDB 7.3 in its current state is basically unusable. Had to revert to 7.2.

Given the current version of gdb, let's call this an old problem. But re-open if not.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
