Can't say that I'm a big fan of major patches like this; they should be obtained from upstream. Particularly shouldn't be in a variant. Is there a possibility of a new libvorbis release containing these changes?

Well, I'm not "near" vorbis development, but if you look at libvorbis release history by dates, it's quite sluggish. This patch adds quality and more stable operation and I would expect to see it in the next libvorbis (maybe somewhere in 2007 :) The slow release cycle of libvorbis is the main reason I submitted this, eg. I want to have it now and guess that someone else might also. I put it as variant, because there are at least five "tuning" patches to official libvorbis, like this. As stated, the current libvorbis is actually the beta2 version of this patch, so it seems to have been the tuning patch of choice for libvorbis upstream.

libvorbis is now at 1.1.2. If there is anything relevant in this patches still not incorporated upstream, they should be modified and submitted on a ticket for libvorbis-1.1.2.
