Failed to install python27

During a routine port upgrade python27 started giving me the following error:

I looked at your log file and from the following lines I think it might be related to #32090:

:info:destroot     from pyexpat import *
:info:destroot ImportError: dlopen(/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/site-packages/_xmlplus/
parsers/pyexpat.so, 2): no suitable image found.  Did find:
:info:destroot  /opt/local/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/site-packages/_xmlplus/parsers/pyexpat.so: mach-o, but wrong architecture

I got the same isssue of wrong architecture build of pyexpat.so while doing 'sudo port selfupdate' and 'sudo port upgrade outdated'. I am using Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Macport version is of 2.0.4
