What is the output of 'port select python' ?

What OS version are you on?

Sorry. I'm on OS X 10.8 (mountain lion)

Also, if it matters, I have 'python3' symlinked to 'python'.

I had this problem also. My python was "none"; once I switched it to "python27" the port built and installed fine.
