A patch to update the port was submitted in #37879 but it does not take into account that Oracle re-released the software on February 19 to address the issues in the forum thread above, and it looks like it breaks the PowerPC version.

I have a patch I like better, but I'm not committing it until I verify that all ports that depend on oracle-instantclient work with it.

With oracle-instantclient 11.2.0.3.0, these ports fail to build:

• soci: ​https://github.com/SOCI/soci/issues/89
• TOra: ​https://sourceforge.net/p/tora/bugs/867/

These ports succeed:

• libzdb-oracle
• ocilib
• php5-oracle, php53-oracle, php54-oracle, php55-oracle, php52 +oracle
• qore-oracle-module

• r104521: updated oracle-instantclient for Intel to 11.2.0.3.0; version is now correctly indicated as 10.1.0.3 on PowerPC systems; fixed livecheck; simplified port somewhat using Tcl arrays
• r104522: revbumped libzdb-oracle, ocilib, qore-oracle-module and re-enabled 64-bit builds for 10.7+
• r104523: revbumped TOra, applied upstream patch to fix build problem with oracle-instantclient 11 and re-enabled 64-bit builds for 10.7+; disabled silent build rules
• r104524: updated soci to version 3.2.0 to fix build problem with oracle-instantclient 11 and re-enabled 64-bit builds for 10.7+; fixed livecheck
• r104525: revbumped and reworked php5{,3,4,5}-oracle for oracle-instantclient 11 and re-enabled 64-bit builds for 10.7+
• r104526: reworked php52 +oracle variant for oracle-instantclient 11; no revbump because +oracle is not a default variant so a rebuild would be useless for most users, and for those who are using it, rev-upgrade will do a rebuild for them

Please excuse my total noobishness, here, but I was excited to see that the oracle-instantclient port had apparently been updated to the new v11. Unfortunately, when I did a port selfupdate, oracle-instantclient completely disappeared from the list of available ports. I can't even attempt to install the 10.x version that used to be available.

I'm using Mountain Lion with the latest patches.
