atlas not found in port index

Following instructions on Wikipedia I entered the following in Terminal (recent Macbook Pro) 

sudo port install octave-devel +atlas+docs

I got the following message 

--->  Computing dependencies for octave-devel
Error: Dependency 'atlas' not found.

Where did I go wrong?
