I don't know what went wrong originally, but when I messed around and used

sudo port upgrade outdated

it fixed it for some reason.

Anyways, problem solved, sorry for the false alarm.

The log you attached was not from a clean build, and shows it was trying to use libpng 1.4; we've had libpng 1.5 in MacPorts for a long time already.

Always ​clean and try again before reporting a bug.
