A ticket was opened in September of 2012 asking that bro be updated to the version 2.1 (#35926) It has been 11 months with no fix and I would like to submit the patch and I'd like to humbly request port maintainership for this particular port.
Please let me know if the Abandonment ticket needs to be separate from one providing the patch and I'll submit another as well.

Let’s keep this about abandonment. Please attach the patch to #35926. (You should also generate a new patch, as the one you attached here is reversed.)

OP, consider adding openmaintainer to this port, too, so that Ryan can commit fixes to all of the tickets he's opened for this port.
