The latest release is 1.0.16.

Actually, 1.0.9 is the latest release of libusb. There's a fork named libusbx which is at 1.0.17.

However, libusbx still installs as libusb.dylib. Perhaps the best approach will be to have the libusb port install libusbx. Could be problematic if the original libusb is resurrected.
