I am also having a problem with this configuration, although it compiles perfectly and fails in the last step. I am using Xcode 5.0.2 on OS X 10.9

[...] ---> Configuring boost ---> Building boost ---> Staging boost into destroot Error: org.macports.destroot for port boost returned: error renaming "/opt/local/var/macports/build/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_devel_boost/boost/work/destroot/opt/local/lib/mpi.so": no such file or directory
