In a machine, upgraded to Maverick (from Snow Leopard), after installing Xcode 5.0.1 and command line tools I have this error:

--->  Verifying checksums for perl5.8
--->  Extracting perl5.8
--->  Applying patches to perl5.8
--->  Configuring perl5.8
--->  Building perl5.8
Error: org.macports.build for port perl5.8 returned: command execution failed
Please see the log file for port perl5.8 for details:
    /opt/local/var/macports/logs/_opt_local_var_macports_sources_rsync.macports.org_release_tarballs_ports_lang_perl5.8/perl5.8/main.log
Error: Unable to upgrade port: 1
