I don't see a reason for keeping this ticket open (or for trying to address the issue). I would actually prefer to remove both wxmsw and the old mingw once the new mingw-w64 is added.
If you have a good reason why this should be fixed, please speak up.

MinGW ports seem relatively abandoned to me.
But I don't see a point worrying about
+universalwhen not even the basic build works.
