Description

'reptyr' is a tool that can pick up a running program and attach it to a new terminal.

This is very useful in many cases. Assume a long-running process started remotely over ssh. But you have to leave now and want the process to keep running until complete? Solution: start a screen session, use 'reptyr' to attach the long-running process into screen, close ssh and go home.

Caveats: the author of 'reptyr' states that porting it to BSD may be feasible, but is difficult.

'retty' is another utility which provides similar capabilities as 'reptyr': http://repo.or.cz/w/retty.git

Someone (not us) will need to make it OS X-compatible before we can add it to MacPorts.

Is it OS X-compatible?
