Description
trying to work around another issue with tomcat5 and its commons-el issue, I tried to install commons-el first. It failed in many ways.

Can you be more specific about what you're seeing (logs from port -dv install, for instance)? commons-el builds and installs fine for me, so I don't know what you mean by "failed in many ways." -jdb
