#42144 closed defect (duplicate)

py26-gobject and py27-gobject can't both be installed

Reported by: snarkhunter (Steve Langer) Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.2.1
Keywords: Cc:
Port: py27-gobject

Description

Before I upgraded today, it used to be possible to have both py27-gobject and py26-gobject installed. Now the installation of whichever one is installed second fails with the message:

Error: org.macports.activate for port py26-gobject returned: Image error: /opt/local/share/doc/py-gobject-2.28.6/AUTHORS is being used by the active py27-gobject port. Please deactivate this port first, or use 'port -f activate py26-gobject' to force the activation.

Forcing activation works, but shouldn't be necessary.

It still doesn't work. Now there is no error message, but after upgrading only one of the two ports is activated. The other one can't be activated.

I'll add a comment to #42134. Somehow that ticket didn't show up in my search before I created this ticket.
