I performed a clean and then tried installing pan2.

The new log is still incomplete. As per the link I provided:

Before filing a ticket, sudo port clean the port that failed, then try again.

Running port clean installed doesn’t cover the pan2 port because pan2 is not installed. Please run sudo port clean pan2 and try the install again.

I see the same build error on Mavericks. Presumably this software is not compatible with libc++. We are already using the latest version of the software, so you should report this problem the developers of the software so that they can fix it and release a new version. When they do, we can update the port.
