I'd like to request a standalone application for the Wireshark package. Currently, after installation, you can only launch through a terminal command.

Replying to j.orlandomurillo@…:

It’s easy enough to do this with an AppleScript one-liner:

do shell script "/opt/local/bin/wireshark" with administrator privileges

Save from Script Editor as an application and you’re all set.

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

Resolving as 'wontfix' as I think if one wants a .app for this it can be locally created as noted above. If there are other reasons to make a .app please reopen and comment.

Why wontfix? I find it very useful to have Wireshark.app and it's even created automatically by Wireshark 2.0. I thought this would be closed as "fixed" once the switch to version 2 is done. I don't understand why one would have to manually do AppleScript instead when Wireshark has all you need included. (I'm not asking to fix version 1, just version 2.)

I marked it 'wontfix' for wireshark-1.x - there's no indication that this was in reference to wireshark-2.x.
