The GitX seem to be a dead project with the last commit in 2009. The most active fork appears to be GitX-dev:

GitX-dev seems not to support Snow Leopard: http://rowanj.github.io/gitx/#10_6
How about only replacing GitX with GitX-dev on Lion and newer?

I really don't care that much about SL anymore. I'll gladly put a conditional to preserve the current state for SL, but other than that I won't be putting any work into SL. Patches welcome, of course.

Cal, I’ve started creating a GitX-dev portfile based on your current portfile for GitX and thus reassigned this ticket to me. But I hope it’s okay to leave you in the CC, because I am not sure how far I get. For now the portfile only downloads its sources.

I can't manage to deal with this at the moment due to a severe lack of time.
As I don't want to hinder anyone to pick up this task I am herewith opting out of future maintainer-ship.

GitX-dev is also inactive now. But https://github.com/gitx/gitx is active.

I dropped maintainership of GitX in [11724d44b788a9c2d89fa04936965a18c2b5dec9/macports-ports] since I haven't used a GUI for git in years. Maybe somebody wants to pick this up and submit a PR?
I've had a tab open in my browser with this for quite a while, but I just haven't found the time to do this yet. If you can provide a patch, that would be very welcome and speed this up significantly.
