Inkscape blur fill does not work

Reported by: lammers.joris@… Owned by: dbevans (David B. Evans)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.2.1
Keywords: Cc: su-v
Port: inkscape

Description

I've installed inkscape today and when I tried to create a blurred fill of a rectangle, I can see the rectangle's size increase but the fill is not blurred at all. This seems to be MacPorts related as the same Inkscape version (0.48.4) works ok on other platforms.

Running OS X 10.9.2 with Xcode 5.1 (5B130a) and latest MacPorts (did port selfupdate today)

Please be sure and Cc: the maintainer of the port and fill in the port name in the ticket form for better service.

I note that the version of inkscape that we provide is 0.48.4 patched with all upstream patches leading to 0.48.5 so there is a possibility of a regression slipping in. So you might consider checking upstream for bug reports and/or consider filing one yourself to cover all bases. They are very aware of Mac OS X issues.

More information needed:

  • what inkscape variants are you using (+quartz +x11 etc)
  • describe exactly what to do, what you expect and what you get so that we can recreate the problem.
  • does inkscape-devel, which is now in the early release stages of 0.91, yield the same results? Is it better or worse?
  • any screen shots, test files, etc that would help illustrate the problem (such as our inkscape's result vs some one else's that you consider correct).

Thanks in advance for your help

Upstream report filed (regression in revision 10019 confirmed with local builds on OS X 10.7.5):
Bug #1297546 “Stable branch: filter effects are not rendered (rev >= 10019)”
