#44985 new defect

digikam @4.0.0_0: No drag and drop to the Dock anymore

Reported by: bugports@… Owned by: jgosmann (Jan Gosmann)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.3.1
Keywords: Cc: cgilles (HumanDynamo)
Port: digikam

Description

Since the update to version 4.0 digiKam lacks the ability to drag and drop files from the album view to the Dock, which worked in 3.5. So it is impossible to send files from digiKam to another Mac application like PSE or Gimp Mac.

In the open-with-dialogue in the context menu I can sure navigate to something like

/Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 8/Adobe Photoshop Elements.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop Elements

or

/Applications/Grafik/Gimp.app/Contents/MacOS/Gimp

but unlike version 3.5, which opened files in that way, if even every picture in a new instance (!), nothing happens in digiKam 4.0.

This does not sound like a MacPorts-specific problem. We should update digikam to the latest version, and if the problem persists, then you should report it to the developers of digikam.

I think you are right, since drog and drop documents from Dolphin to Mac applications in the dock works in some cases. (PDF->Skim works, MP4->VLC not)

digiKam update sounds like a good idea. Thank you!

Since Digikam still remains in version 4, maybe anyone sharing the problem finds my fix helpful...

After clean install of the whole macports system the problem still remained, as expected. But setting the user rights to 700 way of trial on the picture folders (on an external USB drive) partially succeed, unfortunately not with all of the folders. The best solution seems to put the problem candidates in new folders.

After that I can drag and drop from DigiKam to Photoshop Elements, Mail and Macports Gimp again.

(but still not to Gimp Mac (Lisanet version), Raw Therapee, Darktable, Lightzone or even Thunderbird)
