ZBar is an open source software suite for reading bar codes from various sources, such as video streams, image files and raw intensity sensors. It supports many popular symbologies (types of bar codes) including EAN-13/UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, Code 128, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5 and QR Code.

I had to switch to homebrew because this and a couple of other ports weren't available and didn't look like they ever would be. Several users request and no developers even bother to comment...

According to wikipedia, an updated fork is maintained here: https://git.linuxtv.org/zbar.git With a bugtracker here: https://github.com/mchehab/zbar/issues
Looks like a patch is required: https://github.com/Homebrew/homebrew/blob/master/Library/Formula/zbar.rb
