Installation of poppler on Yosemite hangs in configure

Reported by: piranha32 (Jacek Radzikowski) Owned by: dbevans (David B. Evans)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.3.3

Port: poppler

Description

Installation of poppler on OSX Yosemite hangs in configure. I tried to remove macports and install again, upgrade all components, but it did not fix the problem.

This are the messages printed on the terminal by port -v install:

It works fine for me on Yosemite. On my system, the next thing after finding awk is:

checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes

What version of Xcode do you have installed? What does xcodebuild -version say? What about clang -v and make -v?

comment:3 Changed 9 years ago by piranha32 (Jacek Radzikowski)

The system was upgraded from Maverick; I installed xcode and CLI tools from Apple store. Tool versions:

$ xcodebuild -version
Xcode 6.1.1
Build version 6A2008a

$ clang -v
Apple LLVM version 6.0 (clang-600.0.56) (based on LLVM 3.5svn)
Target: x86_64-apple-darwin14.0.0
Thread model: posix

$ make -v
GNU Make 3.81

Works for me on Yosemite as well. When upgrading from Mavericks did you follow the Migration instructions?

comment:5 in reply to:  4 Changed 9 years ago by piranha32 (Jacek Radzikowski)

Replying to devans@…:

Works for me on Yosemite as well. When upgrading from Mavericks did you follow the Migration instructions?

At the time when I upgraded the system there was no Yosemite version of MacPorts yet. When the installer appeared on the website I ended up removing the old version following instructions from https://guide.macports.org/#installing.macports.uninstalling and installing everything from scratch. To make sure that I did not miss anything I removed MacPorts again and installed from freshly downloaded installer. Installer completed without errors. To make sure that I had up to date versions of all packages I ran "port selfupdate" and "port upgrade outdated".

On Maverick I also had Homebrew installed, but I removed it before second attempt to install MacPorts, following instructions from brew's FAQ.

Looks that the problem was related to the system upgrade. After Yosemite update from Apple was installed, the problem disappeared.
