That log is incomplete. As per the Guide, please run

$ sudo port clean cmake
$ sudo port install cmake

and attach the new log if it fails again. (Do not paste the log into a comment.)

Agreed.

I did try port clean etc before but just got the same error.

Just done another 'port clean cmake' and 'port install cmake' it has worked. Perhaps it was a network issue with some of the dependencies.

And I am running as root 'sudo bash'

Ok, glad you got it working. If you encounter a problem in the future and need to report a bug, make sure you attach a main.log file that was created from a clean attempt (i.e. one that doesn't contain the phrase "Skipping completed").
