Fixxed in 1.7.10: 

    *) Bugfix: alerts "sendfile() failed" if the "sendfile" directive was
       used on OS X; the bug had appeared in 1.7.8.

a downgrade to 1.7.7 is not possible, because 1.7.9 is the only available port!

Please Cc the maintainer and fill in the port field when reporting bugs against ports. I must have missed the 1.7.10 release, will take a look.
