what sense do the variants make? They don't pull in any extra ports, so why not build them always? As ports can't rely on specific variants of other ports, its adviced to create the most useful default installation; btw. the sha1-checksum is currently a problem as we can only mirror just-md5-checksummed ports; please don't use it for the official tree right now.

Matlab variant path fixed. Variants left in because: blais is an optional optimization which not everybody wants to use, lapack and matlab bloat the library unnecessarily if you don't need them.
