petsc @3.5.3_1+complex: configure fails

Dear developers,
I tried to compile slepc-3.5.3 with FEAST support. Unfortunately it reports that FEAST is supported only with complex numbers.

ERROR: FEAST is supported only with complex numbers.

This happens because of the following:

$cat config/feast.py

  if petscconf.SCALAR != 'complex':
    log.Exit('ERROR: FEAST is supported only with complex numbers.')

which means that PETSc needs to be compiled with +complex. I tried to compile PETSc this way and unfortunately no options succeeded.

sudo port clean blabla
sudo port uninstall blabla
sudo port install petsc@3.5.3_1+accelerate+hypre+openmpi+parmetis+suitesparse+complex

At the end of the error log is the reason:

Cannot use hypre with complex numbers it is not coded for this capability

If you remove +hypre then it should build fine. I should figure out a way to print this error to the user but don't have the time as it is.

I just came across this ticket. It might be helpful to point out that I added FEAST as a port several months ago.
