Anybody know if Octave 4.0+ and SuiteSparse 4.4+ play nicely together? I won't get to testing these for a while. Patches welcome here and #48622.

I've no idea if the new SS is compatible with Octave or any other port that depends on it. Also no idea if the patch for 4.4.4 works for the latest. Need to do some testing!

@Marius : do you know what Octave requires version-wise for SuiteSparse?

I have no idea if SuiteSparse 5.x.x. works with octave. The octave wiki does list SuiteSparse 4.5.3 in the build instructions dated August 12, 2017.
