#48705 new defect

encfs corrupt/lost files on high IO

Reported by: axet (Alexey Kuznetsov) Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.3.3
Keywords: Cc: ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt)
Port: encfs

Description (last modified by ryandesign (Ryan Carsten Schmidt))

Hello!

I'm using encfs on Mac Yosimite 10.10.5 with my private folder. This folder includes a lot of small files (source code). And working with eclipse or git on encrupted folder can cause a file lost/lock/corrupt file system.

This bug easy to reproduce. Just create encfs folder and clone a source tree into it. You will get a few errros, then removing a folder cause another on encfs space.

# git clone http://github.com/golang/go gg

It may be an encfs issue itself, and have nothing to do with macports.

We did just update boost to 1.59.0, and rebuild encfs because of that. Did the problem occur with the previous versions of boost and encfs?

Maybe updating encfs would help.

Ok, encfs has been updated to 1.8.1. Wait 30 minutes, then run "sudo port selfupdate" and "sudo port upgrade outdated". Did that help? If so, great, we can close the ticket.

But if not, then do please try downgrading to boost @1.58.0 and encfs @1.7.5-135_2 and then, whether or not that helps, report the problem to the developers of encfs.

This bug have been here for ages. I just reported it. It is not boost related for sure.

Last update did fix the problem, seems like 1.8.1 has a fix for it. Thanks!

Great!

Problem persists.

Seems like after resume/suspend or few hours encfs do not allow you to clone into encrypted folder.

Ok, in that case you'd better report it to the developers of encfs so they can fix it.
