Failed to verify signature for MacPorts source!

I run port -v selfupdate and receive the following;

I also receive the following whenever I try to execute a port command;

Warning: port definitions are more than two weeks old, consider updating them by running 'port selfupdate'.

hence the reason I tried to update. I even downloaded/installed macports using the package installer, but this DID NOT resolve the issue.
