#50243 closed defect (wontfix)

[Port Abandoned] ports maintained by darkart.com:opendarwin.org

Reported by: mojca (Mojca Miklavec) Owned by: opendarwin.org@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version:
Keywords: Cc: hsivank@…, ghosthound
Port: netcat nmap wireshark

Description (last modified by mojca (Mojca Miklavec))

There is no sign of maintainer of wireshark to do any work on that port and there are a number of open tickets: #21806 #39538 #42447 #43248 #45045 #46381 #48132 #48835 #49065 #49730. I didn't do any research on other ports.

(I would suggest to make hsivank and/or ricci the maintainer of wireshark while retiring wireshark-devel, but other suggestions are welcome.)

Port: geos2 gtetrinet removed

There are different maintainers for geos2 and gtetrinet.

$ port info --maintainers geos2 gtetrinet
maintainers: opendarwin@gaige.net

maintainers: warp-opendarwin@spin.de

I'm sorry, I wasn't careful enough when filing the ticket. Thanks for the correction.

You missed #40782, and while (for wireshark) the maintainer has been slow as of late, there is still interest in maintaining wireshark. So far as nmap goes, dluke@ always beats me to it.

netcat maintainership dropped in r144401

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

resolving as won't fix as I'll still be maintaining wireshark and nmap.

Just to make it clear: are you (ricci) the same person as opendarwin.org? I'm just confused because you say "I'll still be maintaining ..." and I saw many of your commits and uploads.

yup. some of us still have old email addresses in our ports.

I'm sorry. I wouldn't have filed this ticket if I knew that. I saw a lot of activity from ricci, but basically none form opendarwin.org. As I already wrote that I would suggest to make "ricci" the maintainer ... :)

(I believe you should change the name in the ports you maintain.)

I could continue to maintain Wireshark and help Macports. My two cents.

I really would strongly encourage (as mojca porposed) to change the maintainer of ports to the current address which is used for interaction. In particular, committers should preferably use their handle, as this clearly indicates that they are able to act on their ports independently.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
