Hello and welcome to MacPorts!
the port looks OK, the only thing I suggest is using the github PortGroup, which will automatically specify version, homepage, master_sites etc. for you. Take a look at the port pixz for an example of how to use the PortGroup.

Sweet, done. I had tried to use the github portgroup before, and couldn't get it work work, but now it does.
