Installation successful but not showing anywhere

Description
Trying to get MacPorts running in order to run HomeBank. El Capitan version of MacPorts downloaded and installed successfully XQuartz installed and runs fine - running Inkscape with no problems Terminal opened after HomePorts install but - ports: command not found
What to do next? I'm not a programmer so apologies if the answer has already been given in all the listing of coding - i looked through it but can't see anything that applies.
