#51593 closed defect (fixed)

All GPG ports incorrectly named

Reported by: Hasimir (Ben McGinnes) Owned by: Ionic (Mihai Moldovan)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.3.4
Keywords: Cc: roederja
Port: gnupg gnupg2 gnupg21

Description (last modified by mf2k (Frank Schima))

All three of the ports for GPG are incorrectly named:

gnupg @1.4.19 (mail, security)
    GNU pretty-good-privacy package

gnupg2 @2.0.29 (mail, security)
    GNU pretty-good-privacy package

gnupg21 @2.1.12 (mail, security)
    GNU pretty-good-privacy package

Pretty Good Privacy is a proprietary program currently owned by Symantec. Wheras GPG is the GNU Privacy Guard and that name ought to be used here, as its lead developer, Werner Koch, stated yesterday: https://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-users/2016-June/056160.html

They aren't incorrectly "named", merely incorrectly "described". :)

Fixed in r149373.
