Looks like some configuration options are no longer supported/required 

configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --with-zlib, --with-bz2

Do you want me to remove them before committing?

Yes, please. Not sure about dependencies on bzip2 and zlib ports though…

OK, I'll waint on the gnutar update.

The dependencies on bzip2 and zlib are ok. They get recognized and used without regard for the old configure options. So I guess they are no longer optional.

BTW, I note that MacPorts has a port of libmd so you could add that as a dependency, if you use --with-libmd to enable it. Up to you, not sure if it would be useful or not but configures and builds without problems.

gnutar updated in r152143.
dpkg update committed in r152144, removing outdated configuration items --with-zlib, --with-bz2.

Leaving the libmd suggestion for your future consideration.
