Description
We've had a thread on MacPorts-dev (with the same subject line) a while back in June 2016 where we discussed the possibility of enhancing the platform syntax with support for an "else" block. Judging from the dates this was just before I left for summer occupations from which I came back with the idea the idea had been submitted here or otherwise picked up so that it would find its way into "base".
Apparently not, so I'm submitting the patch which we arrived at on the ML; I'm CC'ing Gustaf Neumann as the co-author (probably main author, in fact) of the patch.
I have been testing it as the ifplatform command in my KF5 ports; it works as expected and without side-effects in my experience (and that of the few KF5 beta-testers).
