I'll send a patch for review, in particular I need a tester on Sierra. One of the things I noticed is a failure in the following test (on an older OS): 

dist/Time-HiRes/t/clock ....................................... panic: MUTEX_LOCK (22) [HiRes.xs:773] at t/clock.t line 40.
# Looks like you planned 5 tests but ran 1.
# Looks like your test exited with 255 just after 1.
FAILED--expected 5 tests, saw 1

I don't know if this is new in 5.24.1, I have to check.

This seems to work OK in 5.25.9, so apparently we need some backporting. See the links above.

Will give it a try on my test machines (including latest Sierra) over night (unless some one else beats me to it) and let you know how things go in the morning (PST).
