​https://github.com/plusvic/yara says: "forked from VirusTotal/yara ​https://github.com/VirusTotal/yara". So, it looks like MacPorts yara port refers to and is based on Victor M. Alvarez' personal (and outdated) fork rather than on upstream yara (whose maintainer and main contributor also Victor M. Alvarez is). The port file's github.setup info should be changed accordingly and point to project owner VirusTotal rather then to plusvic.

OK, and the python is no longer in the main download; it is at ​https://github.com/VirusTotal/yara-python now

So this isn't a simple version update.

So this isn't a simple version update.

MacPorts already provides separate port files (or meta port files or aliases) concerning yara bindings for python, see: https://www.macports.org/ports.php?by=name&substr=yara. Their github.setup information simply have to change from plusvic to VirusTotal as well.

Build failed. See attached build log.


Solved. Made a sudo port uninstall yara and afterwards a sudo port clean --all yara, then again a sudo port install yara. Built OK. All OK now. Closed bug again.
