#57398 assigned defect

biblatex and biber versions incompatible with each other

Reported by: trg818 (Thomas Ruedas) Owned by: drkp (Dan Ports)
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.5.4
Keywords: Cc:
Port: biblatex-biber

Description

I have installed the current biblatex-biber (2.11_0) on my Mac (OS X 10.13.6) and tried to use it, but the run fails with the error

> biber supplement
INFO - This is Biber 2.11
INFO - Logfile is 'supplement.blg'
INFO - Reading 'supplement.bcf'
ERROR - Error: Found biblatex control file version 3.3, expected version 3.4.
This means that your biber (2.11) and biblatex (3.7) versions are incompatible.
See compat matrix in biblatex or biber PDF documentation.
INFO - ERRORS: 1

This gives the impression that the port is not built correctly. To add to the confusion, the biblatex.sty I find with kpsewhich contains the lines \def\abx@version{3.11} and \def\blx@bcfversion{3.4}, suggesting that the versions are not correctly identified.

I can't reproduce this. Are you sure that you have the latest versions of both the biblatex-biber and texlive-bibtex-extra ports installed?

texlive-bibtex-extra provides biblatex 3.11 and biblatex-biber provides biber 2.11 which are the compatible versions according to the compatibility matrix.

I would think my system is up to date:

> port installed
...
texlive-bibtex-extra @47418_0+doc (active)
biblatex-biber @2.11_0 (active)
...
> port outdated
No installed ports are outdated.
> which biber
/opt/local/bin/biber
> kpsewhich biblatex.sty
/opt/local/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/biblatex/biblatex.sty

Let me know if I should check something else, and what.
