see <​https://github.com/rakshasa/libtorrent/issues/47>. It would appear that v0.13.7 solves this issue, according to that thread.

Can someone please update LibTorrent to 0.13.7 & rTorrent to 0.9.7

so installing it was easy, but there may some odd fixes for various systems to be considered still. 

$ port -v installed libtorrent
The following ports are currently installed:

there is a little patch in 52476 that I used to install this today. Need to examine other systems apparently, as there may be other issues to resolve as per that other ticket.
